I bought this item for my husband for Christmas 2008. It works great and extends the life of wine enabling you to have a glass of white or red or preserve two reds. The "malfunctioning" of the air seal mentioned is not really a malfunction if you push one of the tops down. It will continue to try to suck the air out of a bottle that's not there. Also, you need to remove the foil at the top of the bottle so it can seal properly. I'm surprised that one customer had a hard time with Wine Enthusiast.
