WD361 Water Dispenser Review
I purchased this water dispenser for my office after the old one quit working. Having read quite a few reviews, I felt comfortable that I was getting a good product.Once set up and filled with water, we discovered that the water it dispensed had a horrible chemical taste and smell. I immediately called Avanti, who told me they do not warranty the taste of the water dispensed, only the unit itself, and was given a lengthy process to try to flush the unit out and get rid of the bad taste. It involved dumping in bleach and much rinsing - and took quite a while. At the end, the water still tasted just as bad. Since Avanti customer service had these rinsing directions at hand to give when I called, I must assume they are aware of the problem with the dispensers and probably field these type of complaints frequently.
Since we were unable to return the unit, I continued flushing water through it hoping to lessen the bad taste. Finally I poured in white vinegar and some water and let it sit all day, and then drained it out and rinsed several times. Success - water finally tastes good to drink. The unit seems to be working properly now, but I am disappointed that a product purchased brand new should have required that much work in order to use it for its intended purpose.
